HMS Endeavour, Captain Cook's ship, was found off Newport Harbour, Rhode Island. The ship was renamed Lord Sandwich and sank in 1778 during the American War of Independence. The Australian National Maritime Museum confirmed the wreck as RI 2394 after 25 years of research.
