A saline nasal rinse is a salt and water solution used to flush out nasal passages with a device like a neti pot or squeeze bottle.

Rinsing with saline washes irritants like pollen, dust, and other debris out of your nasal and sinus cavities.

It helps thin and flush out thick mucus, which can relieve stuffiness and pressure.

It can moisturise dry nasal passages and soothe irritation from allergies or infections.

How to do it: Mix 1 teaspoon of non-iodised canning or pickling salt, a pinch of baking soda, and 2 cups of warm filtered or boiled water.

Ensure the water is sterile by boiling it and letting it cool down before mixing in the salt and baking soda to prevent infection.

Insert the spout of the device into the upper nostril and gently squeeze or pour the saline solution.
