For many mobile phone users, adding a cover is a very important ritual as it protects the device from scratches, dents and cracks

It also enhances the durability of the phone, safeguarding it against accidental drops and impacts that could otherwise cause irreparable damage

But some of the world's richest persons - Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Jay-Z - use their devices without any cover

The message could be clear - "no case, no problem, because I can afford to replace it", but experts try to offer some explanation

She believes that carrying a smartphone without a case speaks to an appreciation of design and aesthetics

Billionaires also live in a luxury building with a doorman, so they don't need to carry keys reducing the possibility of their phones getting scratched

Finally, cases are bulky and collect dirt in hard-to-clean crevices, rendering fashionable mini purses unusable
