NASA has captured a mysterious, surfboard-shaped object near the surface of the moon

The photo was taken by the space agency's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and posted on NASA's website

It shows a thin horizontal line of an object resembling the board of the Marvel's 'Silver Surfer' character

As the image started gaining traction, it created a buzz on social media with users wanting to know what it is

Turns out it is a lunar orbiter called Danuri that was sent to the Moon by South Korea

The photo was captured when the LRO and Danuri zipped passed each other between March 5 and 6

The surfboard-type appearance is due to the fact that both were moving at extremely fast velocities

The Danuri has been orbiting the moon since December 2022
