Every eligible citizen should actively participate in shaping the nation's future by casting their vote during elections

Any person who is a citizen of India and is 18 years or older is eligible to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections

However, voter registration is essential for all Indian citizens to participate in the voting process

The first step is to visit Election Commission of India's National Voter's Service Portal, and download Form 6

Fill up the form with accurate details and ensure all fields are filled correctly to avoid any discrepancies

After the completion of the form, it has to be submitted to the Electoral Registration Officer for verification

Upon successful verification, your name will be added to the official voter list

You wll receive a valid Voter ID dispatched via post or email to your address within 15 to 21 days

If any inconsistencies are detected during this verification, the application is rejected, and you will have to submit a fresh application

Voting for the 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1
