Android phones will soon be getting new tools to stop phone thieves from accessing your information

Google recently announced a slate of new features to help protect your Android device and the valuable data it contains

Called Theft Detection Lock, this features uses AI to determine if someone has snatched your phone out of your hand and tried to escape

If the handset detects that sequence of events, it will lock your phone, denying access to everything contained within it

Google is also introducing a new way to lock your phone screen remotely if it ends up in the wrong hands

The updated factory reset protection feature will also make it challenging for thieves to reset stolen devices and resell them

There will also be a Private Space feature to provide a secure area within the phone to hide and lock apps containing personal information

Further, disabling the Find My Device tool won't be easy as any such process will need your screen credentials like PIN or fingerprint ID

The aim of all anti-theft options is to lock down the information stored on phones but also to make it harder for criminals to abuse devices

All of these features will arrive later this year via a Google Play services update for phones running Android 10 or later
