The Amarnath Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave in Jammu and Kashmir, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Thousands of devotees from across India undertake the spiritually intense and physically demanding Amarnath Yatra every year.

Located at an altitude of over 12,700 feet, the Amarnath Cave houses a naturally formed ice Shivling, believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva.

For many, the yatra is not merely a trek - it is a test of devotion, discipline, and inner resolve.

There are two main routes. One is Pahalgam Route, which is longer and more traditional route, considered scenic and less steep.

The other is Baltal Route from Sonamarg, which is shorter and more challenging, offering a quicker ascent but involving a steeper climb.

This year, the Amarnath Yatra will take place from 3 July to 9 August 2025.

Individuals aged between 13 and 70 without cardiac, respiratory, or other chronic health conditions are eligible.
