Monsoon brings cooler weather and playtime in the rain, but also more germs, mosquitoes, and tummy bugs. Here are 7 ways to keep your kids healthy

1. Boost immunity: Monsoon lowers immunity, so focus on vitamin C and zinc. Give kids oranges, guava, amla, lemon water, and soups with ginger, garlic, and turmeric

2. Prevent fungal infections: Damp clothes and wet feet are a recipe for rashes and fungal infections. Make kids change out of wet uniforms and socks immediately

3. Filtered water: Waterborne diseases like typhoid, cholera, and diarrhoea spike in monsoon. Only give kids boiled, filtered, or RO water

4. Fight mosquitoes: Dengue, malaria, and chikungunya cases rise now. Dress kids in full-sleeve cotton clothes in the evening. Use mosquito repellent patches
5. No to street food: The humidity makes food spoil faster and helps bacteria grow. Avoid golgappa, cut fruits, and anything exposed to flies

6. Practice hand hygiene: Teach the 20-second handwash rule with soap before every meal and after coming home. Keep a small sanitiser in their bag for emergencies

7. Watch small symptoms: Monsoon colds can turn into infections fast. If your child has fever, persistent cough, loose motions, or skin rashes for more than 2 days, see a doctor
