From watering to sunlight exposure, here are some tips to care for indoor plants during the winter season

1. Watering: During winter, plant growth slows down, and they absorb less water. Let the top 2-3 inches of soil dry out completely before watering again

2. Sunlight: Relocate plants closer to south- or west-facing windows to maximise sunlight exposure. Rotate pots a quarter-turn each week so all sides of the plant receive equal light

3. Temperatures: Extreme temperature fluctuations can stress plants and cause leaf loss. Keep them away from chilly window panes, doors, and unheated entryways

4. Humidity: Heating units dry out indoor air rapidly, which can cause leaf tips to turn brown. Mist moisture-loving plants like ferns and tropicals, or place a small humidifier nearby

5. Fertilising: Because most houseplants are not actively growing, fertilising can do more harm than good. Stop using fertiliser during late autumn and winter

6. Pests: Indoor heating creates ideal conditions for pests like spider mites, mealybugs, and scale. Check the undersides of leaves and stems every couple of weeks

7. Repotting: Winter is generally a period of rest for indoor foliage. Avoid repotting, heavy pruning, or major root disturbances until early spring
