Delhi Government Implements Uniform Age For Class 1

The Delhi government will implement a uniform age of 6+ years for Class 1 from 2026-27

The implementation will be done in all government and recognised unaided private schools under DoE

As per DoE, the foundational stage currently comprises two classes: Nursery, KG, and 1

The minimum ages for admission in Nursery, KG and 1 is 3+, 4+ and 5+ years, respectively

In the revised structure, the age for admission to Nursery (Balvatika 1/Pre-School 1) is 3 and 4 years

For Lower KG (Balvatika 2/Pre-School 2) the age is 4 and 5 years

For Upper KG (Balvatika 3/Pre-School 3), the age is 5 and 6 years

The maximum and minimum age for Class 1 is 6-7 years
