Vistara's On-Time Performance Stands at 89% in First Month
New Delhi: Newly-launched Vistara airline today claimed that it surpassed all domestic carriers including budget airline IndiGo in the on-time performance (OTP) in January, with 89.35 per cent of its flight arriving and departing on their scheduled time.

The performance was achieved in a period which was of peak fog and low visibility, it said.

"Vistara's on-time performance in the very first month of its operations stood as high as 89.35 per cent," the airline said today.

"We are glad that starting from our first month of operation and even during the peak fog season we were able to deliver a record OTP," the airline said.

According to the DGCA statistics for January, released last week, while IndiGo had an on-time performance of 73.3 per cent in January, another budget carrier GoAir clocked an overall 65.8 per cent OTP in the reporting month.

SpiceJet, which was plagued with financial problems during the reporting month, performed worst in terms of maintaining its flight schedule with less than half (49.6 per cent) of its flight either arriving or departing on time in January, according to the DGCA.

While Jet Airways reported 63.7 per cent OTP during the month, national carrier Air India recorded only 52.1 per cent on-time performance in January 2015.

Vistara, which is operated jointly by the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines under a 51:49 joint venture, had launched its operations with flights from three cities-Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmadabad early January.

The airline, which has five planes in the fleet, last week added Goa in its network and plans to launch its services to Hyderabad from March 1.
