TCS, 5 Other Companies Add Over Rs 16,000 Crore To Market Valuation

New Delhi: Combined market valuation of six of the top ten firms rose by Rs 16,445.27 crore during the week ended August 5, with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) leading the chart with maximum gain.

While TCS, HDFC Bank, Coal India Ltd (CIL), Sun Pharma, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and ONGC saw gains in their market capitalisation (M-Cap) for the week, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), ITC, Infosys and HDFC suffered losses. 

The M-Cap of TCS surged by Rs 5,980.25 crore to Rs 5,21,946.66 crore. 

ONGC's valuation jumped by Rs 5,004.96 crore to Rs 1,93,182.97 crore.

Sun Pharma's market capitalisation rose by Rs 3,032.43 crore to Rs 2,02,727.88 crore.

The M-Cap of HDFC Bank advanced by Rs 1,045.56 crore to Rs 3,17,052.47 crore while that of CIL rose by Rs 884.29 crore to Rs 2,08,061.04 crore.

HUL's M-Cap rose by Rs 497.78 crore to Rs 1,99,933.02 crore.

On the other hand, HDFC's valuation plunged by Rs 5,363.14 crore to Rs 2,12,065.33 crore.

Infosys lost Rs 1,504.5 crore in its market value, taking its M-Cap to Rs 2,45,175.87 crore. 

ITC's market capitalisation fell by Rs 1,208 crore to Rs 3,03,750.88 crore. 

The M-Cap of RIL declined by Rs 283.86 crore to Rs 3,29,013.53 crore. 

In the ranking of top  ten firms, TCS retained its top position, followed by RIL, HDFC Bank, ITC, Infosys, HDFC, CIL, Sun Pharma, HUL and ONGC.

On a weekly basis, the Sensex and the Nifty have risen 0.09 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively.
