Sensex, Nifty Flat; Tata Power, Lupin Among Gainers
The Sensex opened on a flat note amid mixed global cues. 
 
The 50-share Nifty was also trading on a flat note around 8,750 levels owing to selling in heavyweights like HDFC, TCS and HDFC Bank.
 
Overnight, the Wall Street slipped from all-time highs on Monday, pulled lower by a sharp drop in crude oil prices, while European shares rallied to fresh seven-year highs on last week's conditional financial rescue for Greece.
 
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 50.09 points, or 0.28 per cent, at 18,090.35. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 4.80 points, or 0.23 per cent, at 2,105.50. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 4.89 points, or 0.10 per cent, at 4,951.07.

Back home, the Budget session of the Parliament which started yesterday will see the Land Acquisition Bill being tabled later in the day. The controversial law for which the government took the ordinance route is very crucial for the government's proposed reform programme.
 
From the Nifty basket, Infosys was the top gainer. The stock advanced 1.2 per cent to Rs 2,293. Bharat Petroleum, Zee Entertainment, Hindalco, ITC, Larsen & Toubro, Cipla and Tata Power were also trading higher. On the other hand, Bank of Baroda, Jindal Steel, Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank, Cairn India, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank were the prominent losers.
 
Buying was visible in select real estate, consumer durables and capital goods stocks. At the same time, banking stocks were facing the heat of selling pressure.
 
The broader markets were outperforming the benchmark indices with BSE mid-cap and small-cap indices up 0.4 per cent each.
 
The overall market breadth was positive as 996 stocks were advancing while 664 were declining.
 
At 9:45 AM, the Sensex was up 62 points at 29,037 and the 50-share Nifty was up 17 points at 8,772.
