Nifty Hovers Around 8,850; Hero MotoCorp Falls Over 4%
Sensex continues to trade on a firm note in the noon deals led by buying in consumer durables, capital goods and FMCG stocks.
 
Nifty was hovering near its important psychological level of 8,850 supported by gains in HDFC, NTPC and ICICI Bank.
 
The mid-cap and small-cap indices were marginally outperforming the benchmark indices. The respective indices advanced nearly 1 per cent.
 
Most of sectors were quoting in green. Consumer durables, capital goods, FMCG, power and realty stocks were also seen in high demand in mid-morning trades on Wednesday.
 
From the Nifty basket, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra advanced over 2 per cent to Rs 1,235 after the domestic automobile company said that it plans to launch electric car in Europe in next six months.
 
HDFC, NTPC, Tata Power, Hindustan Unilever, ICICI Bank, ITC, Larsen & Toubro and Punjab National Bank were also trading higher by over 1 per cent each.
 
Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp was the top Nifty loser. The stock slipped over 4 per cent to Rs 2,681 on reports that the promoters plan to sell shares worth Rs 1850 crore. 
 
Bharti Airtel, Sesa Sterlite, Asian Paints and Bajaj Auto were also tradin lower.
 
At 12:45 PM, the Sensex was up 150 points at 29,286 and the Nifty advanced 38 points to 8,847 levels.
