Sahara's Plaza Top Ranked Hotel for Super Rich: Survey

New Delhi: The iconic Plaza Hotel of New York, owned by crisis-ridden Sahara group, has been rated as the top most hotel by the super rich of the world, according to a new survey.

The survey, conducted by New World Wealth, a wealth intelligence company, has ranked the hotels on the basis of votes by the multi-millionaires over the past 12 months.

It said the "sample included wealthy individuals from all over the world, but did not disclose the sample size".

Top ranked Plaza is one of the three prized overseas hotel assets owned by Sahara group. These three hotels (the other two being Dream Downtown in New York and Grosvenor House in London) have attracted several suitors in the recent past.

The Bellagio in Las Vegas was second, followed by London's Mandarin Oriental, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes (France) and La Mamounia in Marrakech (Morocco) in top five.

Others in the top-ten included Little Nel in Aspen (US) at the sixth spot, followed by Singapore's Raffles (7th), Paris's Ritz Paris (8th), Italy's Villa d'Este (9th) and the UAE's Dubai's Burj Al Arab (10th).

Interestingly, the report said that most of these hotels are relatively small and only the Plaza, Mandarin Oriental, Burj Al Arab and Bellagio have more than 150 rooms.

The Mandarin Oriental was rated top hotel in the UK and Europe, La Mamounia in Africa and Raffles in Asia.
