The rupee today gained 10 paise to trade at 50.08 against the US dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in early trade on hopes of more foreign capital inflows.

Dealers said hopes of more foreign capital inflows as budgetary proposal to allow overseas borrowings for more sectors, mainly kept the rupee sentiment firm but increased demand for the American currency from oil importers, capped the gains.

The rupee had ended 20 paise higher at 50.18/19 against the dollar on Friday.

Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex fell by 105.92 points, or 0.61 per cent, to 17,360.28 in early trade today.
