Mumbai: Integrated milk and dairy product company Prabhat Dairy has partnered with Vodafone to make payments to farmers of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra through digital payment service.

"With our tie-up with Vodafone, the farmers don't have to visit any bank or ATM for money withdrawal. The agent of Vodafone visits Prabhat collection centre on the day of payment disbursal and farmers get cash at the collection centre itself," Prabhat Dairy Joint MD Vivek Nirmal said in a release issued on Monday.

"These farmers can also pay their utility bills through this service with the help of the payment centre."

The dairy company has partnership with over 85,000 farmers through its 500 milk collection centres and collects 9 lakh litres of milk daily.

Prabhat Dairy used to deposit the amount in farmers' bank accounts for the milk within 10 days of procurement.

The company produces fresh, dry, frozen, cultured and fermented dairy products, including pasteurised, flavoured, sweetened condensed, ultra-pasteurised or ultra-high temperature (UHT) milk, yogurt and dairy whitener, among others.
