NTPC, Ashok Leyland, NMDC in Focus Today

  1. NTPC on Monday forayed into hydroelectric generation by commissioning the 200 MW unit of its Koldam project in Himachal Pradesh. With this the total installed capacity of the company became 44,003 MW, the company said.
  2. Ashok Leyland has divested its entire stake in its Czech Republic subsidiary, Avia Ashok Leyland. The company made a cash realisation of $10.96 million through this stake sale. The stake sale was a part of its restructuring plan.
  3. Sesa Sterlite has got its shareholders' approval for change of its name to Vedanta Ltd.
  4. NMDC has started the trial production of its new project Bailadila Iron Ore Deposit 11B located in Bailadila region in Dantewada in the state of Chhattisgarh. This project has iron ore production capacity of 7 million tonnes per annum. The company has made an investment of Rs 600 crore for this project.
  5. Just Dial: Goldman Sachs Singapore Pte and Goldman Sachs Investments Mauritius has bought 5 lakh and 14.4 lakh shares in the company respectively at an average price of Rs 1,252 per share on NSE through bulk deals.
  6. Multi Commodity Exchange of India has sold 90.17 lakh warrants of Metropolitan stock exchange to IL&FS at an average price of Rs 2.50 per warrants. Metropolitan stock exchange was earlier known as MCX SX.
  7. Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar has allotted 17.08 lakh shares to JLF Lenders at a price of Rs 21.77 per share on restructuring of term loan.
  8. Pidilite Industries: The company has approved investment in equity shares of Nina Waterproofing Systems Private Ltd. The initial investment of the Company in Nina will be about Rs. 23.33 lakhs. The Board has also approved additional investment upto Rs. 100 crores in Nina.
