Downplaying worries over the contraction in the industrial production figure for the month of June, Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia has said the slip in the number could be due to the base effect.
He said that the figure was exceptionally good for the same period the previous year.
Speaking on fresh fears arising due to several rating agencies cutting the country’s growth projection for the financial year 2013, Mr Montek said GDP growth is likely to be 6-6.5%.
He also said the government is likely to further revise the GDP numbers.
