Maruti Suzuki's total sales - including domestic sales, exports, and sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEM) stood at 86,830 units in September 2021, compared to 160,442 units in the corresponding month last year, marking a sharp decline of 46 per cent year-on-year.

The country's largest carmaker, while reporting its sales figures for September, stated that the company's sales volume last month was adversely impacted due to shortage of electronic components. The company's sales dropped 34 per cent to 86,830 units month-on-month, compared to 1,30,699 units in August 2021. 

Maruti Suzuki's sales of mini passenger vehicles, including models such as Alto, S-Presso in September 2021 stood at 14,936 units, compared to 27,246 units in the corresponding month last year, according to a regulatory filing by the company to the stock exchanges today. 

The sales of compact passenger vehicles including models such as WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S, stood at 20,891 units last month, compared to 84,213 units in the corresponding month last year.

The company's total domestic sales - including passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles stood at 66,415 units, compared to 150,040 units in the corresponding month last year. The total domestic passenger vehicles sold last month stood at 63,111 units, compared to 147,912 units in the same month last year. 

On Friday, October 1, share price of Maruti Suzuki declined more than two per cent with the announcement of the auto sales figures for September. Shares of Maruti Suzuki were last trading 2.44 per cent lower at Rs 7,155.50 on the BSE. 

Maruti Suzuki opened on the BSE today at Rs 7,230, inching to an intra day high of Rs 7,230, and an intra day low of Rs 7,093.50, in the trading session so far.
