PESB Recommends K M Singh for NHPC Chief Post

New Delhi: After almost four years, state-run NHPC is likely to get its full-time chairman and managing director as the Public Enterprises Selection Board on Monday recommended K M Singh's name for the post.

Mr Singh has been recommended by PESB from a list of 12 contenders who were interviewed during the selection process, according to information on the government head-hunter's website.

At present, Ms Singh is the chief executive director of NHDC, a joint venture firm of NHPC and the state government of Madhya Pradesh.

NHPC has been unable to fill the post of CMD which has been vacant since January 2011, with additional charge being handled by several incumbents over a period of time.

Mr Singh has a career spanning approximately 29 years in the power sector.

He joined NHPC on May 22, 1979 and is in charge of all the NHDC projects.

He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur.

Other candidates who were interviewed included J K Sharma (director projects), S Kalgaonkar (ED), Radheshyam Mina (director HR), B R Saraf (ED) and Rakesh (ED) from NHPC, M K Goyal (administrative member) from Board of Revenue (MP government), I D Dayal, ED, NHPC and Rajeev Gupta CME MOR, A S Bindra (director finance), SJVNL, N L Sharma (director personnel) SJVNL and R K Sinha (director HR) NTC.
