JSW Energy restarts Barmer power plant

JSW Energy has restarted generating power at its Barmer plant in Rajasthan which was shut down last month due to non-availability of fuel.

"Two 135 MW units of the Power station at Barmer have restarted operations while the balance units of 135 MW each are expected to restart operations in phase by end March 2014," the Sajjan Jindal-promoted firm said in a regulatory filing.

Raj West Power, a wholly-owned unit of JSW Energy, shut down its 8x135-MW power station in February for about one month due to non-availability of lignite, the fuel that fires the plant.

The Barmer plant achieved full capacity of 1,080 MW in March 2013.

Shares in JSW Energy, on Thursday, ended at Rs 52.20 apiece on the BSE, up 0.29 per cent from the previous close.
