IndiGo to Now Fly to its 37th Destination

IndiGo on Wednesday said that it will start flights to Kozhikode starting January 1, 2015, making it the low-cost airline's 37th destination in its network. Currently, IndiGo flies to 31 domestic destinations and 5 international ones.

The airline will have daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Dubai to Kozhikode starting January. Flights from Delhi and Mumbai commence on January 1, while Dubai gets connected with Kozhikode from January 2.

For January 1, 2015, air tickets on the Mumbai-Kozhikode route are priced at Rs 3,402 (all-inclusive), while Delhi- Kozhikode tickets are priced at Rs 10,151 (all-inclusive).

IndiGo is the market leader among domestic carriers, according to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) data. In October, the airline flew 18.90 lakh passengers. Air India was at second spot during the month, flying 11.56 lakh passengers, followed by Spicejet that flew 10.27 lakh passengers.

Last week, another low-cost airline - AirAsia India - expanded its operations in the country by adding Pune to its domestic network. AirAsia does not fly to Kozhikode. However, rival airline Spicejet does operate on the route.
