UTS On Mobile App Reintroduced: In order to decongest the ticket booking counters and to ensure strict compliance of social distancing norms amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the facility to booking unreserved tickets through the unreserved ticketing system (UTS) on mobile app is being reintroduced by the Indian Railways authorities. The unreserved train services are being introduced in a phased manner by the authorities.

Piyush Goyal-led Railway Ministry said in a statement that in order to avoid any inconvenience to passengers in booking unreserved tickets and to ensure safety amid the coronavirus infection, the UTS on mobile app facility will be available on suburban sections. The facility may also be reintroduced on non-suburban sections of zonal railways.

The Indian Railways zones have been instructed that whenever the unreserved train services are introduced on any zone, the zonal authorities concerned may accordingly enable the UTS on mobile app for issuing the unreserved tickets to passengers.
