India Yamaha Motor reports 14% sales growth in March

Kingfisher employees have stopped short of saying that they would strike work in their letter to Vijay Mallya, the company chairman.

Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor reported a 14 per cent increase in its total sales at 41,886 units in March 2012.

The company had sold 36,768 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement.

In the domestic market, the company's sales stood at 29,819 units last month against 25,786 cars in the same month last year, an increase of 15.6 per cent.

Export of India Yamaha stood at 12,067 units against 10,982 units in the same month last year.

The company attributed the strong sales figure to success of its celebrated product line-up as well as an upturn in consumer sentiment.

"We are pleased with the encouraging response we have been receiving for our deluxe and premium segment bikes such as the YZF-R15 Version 2.0, FZ series and SZ series," India Yamaha Motor CEO and Managing Director Hiroyuki Suzuki said.

"We are planning to strengthen our Best 3S (Sales, Service & Spares) set up in tier-2 and tier-3 cities and increase sub-dealers in the rural areas to further boost our sales in the coming months," he added.

The company attributed the growth to the success of flagship models such as the YZF-R15, FZ and SZ series, he added.
