Honda Amaze crosses 30,000 sales mark

Honda Cars India, which is tasting the success of its recently launched sedan, the Amaze, has clocked the sales figure of 30,000 units, the company said today in a statement.

According to the company, this is the fastest any car maker has reached this milestone.

Honda's sales have grown every month since the Amaze was launched in April this year, and the company posted a growth of 65 per cent during the April-July, compared to the year-ago period.

"We are ecstatic with the overwhelming response received for Amaze since the launch and are delighted having delivered 30,000 Honda Amaze to our customers. Aggressive localization of more than 90 per cent in Honda Amaze has helped us price the Amaze competitively," Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice-president, marketing and sales, Honda Cars India Ltd, said.

Honda has been selling about 5,500 units every month since the launch, and the backlog as of end-July was over 20,000 units.

In order to reduce the waiting period on the Amaze, Honda recently announced that it was planning to increase the production of the vehicle by starting a third shift at its Greater Noida plant from November.

The company hopes to reduce to two-three months the delivery time for booked cars with the increase in output from the current four-five months.
