GoAir Extends Festive Offer, Tickets at Rs 999

GoAir has extended festive discount scheme under which it is offering tickets at Rs 999 (excluding taxes and surcharges). Earlier the scheme was valid till August 25 but now the budget carrier has extended it to August 26.

This GoAir offer is valid for travel between September 15, 2015 and March 31, 2016. The booking period for the GoAir offer started on Saturday, close on the heels of a discount offer from rival SpiceJet that put on block 1 lakh seats, with fares starting at Rs 799 (excluding taxes) last week.

Another airline Air Costa has also rolled out a festive scheme under which it is offering Rs 999 discount on every ticket. The booking for the discount scheme by the Vijayawada-based carrier is valid till 27 August and is applicable for travel period between August 29 and October 24.

Air Costa routes include cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.

Many airlines have come up with discount offers this year in a bid to garner market share in a fiercely competitive environment.

These promotional schemes by airlines have spurred a spike in the number of people travelling by air. Passengers carried by domestic airlines in the first seven months till July 2015 rose 21 per cent to 455.78 lakh.
