Dhoom 3 set to extend overseas box-office record

Dhoom 3 has created history at both Indian and overseas box office by becoming the first Indian movie to do business of more than Rs 500 crore. The Aamir Khan-starrer will get a further box-office boost when it gets released in more international markets.

Dhoom 3's production house Yash Raj Films in a January 6 statement said the movie is now officially the first Indian Film to cross Rs.500 crore worldwide and Dhoom 3 would be released in more international markets like Germany, Peru, Romania, Japan, Russia, CIS, and Turkey.

Giving a breakdown of Dhoom 3's box-office collection so far, Yash Raj Films said its gross box office collection in domestic market was at Rs 351.29 crore and Rs 150.06 crore from overseas markets.

Pramod Arora, president & CEO of PVR told NDTV Profit, "Movies like Dhoom 3, if we have even 2 or 3 such movies in a year it can really turn fortunes of multiplex owners across the country."

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Dhoom 3 also features Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif in leading roles.

Commenting on the box-office success of Dhoom 3, trade analyst Komal Nahta said this record won't be easy to break anytime soon. Dhoom 3 was released on December 20 and has been shown at more than 4,400 screens in India and 750 screens abroad.
