Delhi government spent Rs 8,476 per person in 2011-12 for city development

Delhi Government has spent an average of Rs 8,476 per person in 2011-12 for development of infrastructure and other facilities in the city.

The figure has come out in the economic survey presented by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in Delhi Assembly on Tuesday.

"The per capita plan outlay during 2011-12 was Rs 8,476 during 2011-12," the economic survey said.

It said the government spent Rs 9.58 crore per square kilometre in 2011-12 in developing infrastructure and providing other facilities. Delhi has a total area of 1,483 square kilometre. The plan outlay for 2011-12 was Rs 14,200 crore. Delhi's population in 2011 was recorded at 167.53 lakh.

The per square kilometre investment from plan outlay in 2011-12 by Haryana was Rs 4.61 crore, while Himachal Pradesh spent Rs six lakh per square kilometre and Punjab and Uttarakhand spent Rs 23 lakh and Rs 15 lakh respectively.

As per the economic survey, gross state domestic product of Delhi at current prices has increased to Rs 3.65 lakh crore in 2012-13 which is a growth of 17.70 per cent over the Rs 3.10 lakh crore in 2011-12.

At constant prices, the gross state domestic product for 2012-13 was recorded at Rs 2.20 lakh crore as against 2.02 lakh crore in 2011-12.
