Cement shares hit record highs; monsoon ends

Cement makers continued to rally, with some stocks hitting record highs, on hopes for improved sales and construction activity as the monsoon season ended on Sunday.

The cement sector's cost pressures are beginning to subside, while capacity pressures are easing, Credit Suisse said in a report last week.

ACC traded flat after hitting a record high earlier in the session at Rs 1,484.95.

Shree Cement surges 6.4 per cent, hitting a record at Rs 4,445.

Ultra Tech Cement rose 1.3 per cent, having hit a record high at Rs 2,013.70, while Ambuja Cements gained 3.1 per cent, having hit a record at Rs 209.70.
