14.5 per cent of the world's billionaires reported automobiles as a passion, according to a study.
The global billionaire population last year rose to a record 2,473, according to a study by wealth consulting firm Wealth-X. The combined wealth of the world's billionaires increased to $7.7 trillion, also a record.
The billionaires, the study said, controlled 3.9 per cent of the world's total household wealth.
Entrepreneurialism is one of the common characteristics of the billionaires. According to the study, 87 per cent of billionaires made the majority of their fortunes themselves.
The report also details what billionaires like to do in their free time. According to the study, philanthropy is the primary passion of global billionaires. More than half of total billionaires (56 per cent) either undertake or are interested in pursuing philanthropic activities.
"This is partly due to a rise in the global coverage and recognition of the philanthropic endeavours of billionaires such as Bill Gates and Warren Buffett," the study said.
Beyond philanthropy, popular interests of billionaires included travel, art, fashion and style. 31 per cent of billionaires reported travel as a passion while 29 per cent noted art, says the study.
