Ashok Leyland sales marginally down in March

Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland has reported a marginal dip in sales in March at 14,020 units. The city-based Hinduja Group company sold 14,266 units during March 2012.

Sales of commercial vehicles declined by 19.6 per cent in March 2013 to 9,695 units as against 12,055 units in March 2012, the company said in a filing to the BSE.

However, sales of small commercial vehicle 'DOST' grew by 95.6 per cent to 4,325 units in March 2013 from 2,211 units sold in March 2012, it said.

During the period April-March 2012-2013, total sales grew by 12.3 per cent to 1,14,612 units from 1,01,990 units sold in the same period of the previous year.

Sales of commercial vehicle during the period April 2012 to March 2013 fell by 16 per cent to 79,695 units as against 94,395 units sold in the same period of previous year.

On the small commercial vehicle, Dost, the company said it had sold 34,917 units during the period April to March 2013 from 7,593 units sold during the same period of the previous year.
