Airfare War Hots Up Further With AirAsia's Rs 1,290 Offer

Amid airlines looking to secure a bigger pie than rivals in the Indian market, AirAsia has announced all-inclusive fares starting Rs 1,290.

Under the scheme, all-inclusive fare for a Bengaluru-Kochi journey starts at Rs 1,290; Bengaluru-Goa at Rs 1690; Bengaluru-Jaipur at Rs 3,290, and Bengaluru-Chandigarh at Rs 3,690, the carrier said on its website. A Goa-Bengaluru journey, on the other hand, can be booked at Rs 1,690 under the scheme.

Bookings can be made from March 30 to April 12, 2015 for travel between June 15 and September 30, 2015, AirAsia said.

Besides Bengaluru, flyers can also book tickets for travel from cities like Chandigarh, Kochi, Jaipur and Goa.

GoAir recently announced one-way tickets for as low as Rs 1,299. Under this scheme, valid for travel between June 23 and October 31, tickets can be purchased between March 28 and March 30. The budget carrier had also rolled out another limited period low fares scheme before this, offering one way tickets starting Rs 999. (Read more)

Last Friday, the Tatas' Vistara airline offered discounted air fares for bookings made 90 days in advance. That came within days of IndiGo announcing its 'lower than low' scheme offering domestic all-inclusive fares starting Rs 1,395.

Many players in the domestic market have come up with a series of discounted offers to lure customers in the January-March and July-September quarters - traditionally considered periods of low travel demand.
