Royal Wedding: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle exit St George's Chapel after exchanging wedding vows

New Delhi: The red carpets are rolled out and the stage is set at the St. George's Chapel of Windsor Castle, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big royal wedding got over, amid loud cheers. The wedding spectacle was witnessed by as many as 100,000 Britishers and foreign visitors, apart from those watching around the globe. The Royals wed in front of family, friends and celebrities like Elton John, David and Victoria Beckham, Priyanka Chopra and George and Amal Clooney. The couple read their wedding vows at the St George's Chapel, which also saw the weddings of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011 and of Princess Diana and Prince Charles in 1981.

Prince Harry and his bride will be now be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after their wedding, the Buckingham Palace announced hours before the ceremony.

US TV star Meghan Markle joined Britain's Prince Harry at the altar on Saturday wearing a flowing white dress in front of a star-studded congregation as tens of thousands of fans cheered in the street and millions watched around the world, reported news agency AFP.

Harry and the bride's mother Doria Ragland looked visibly moved and the couple held hands as they exchanged vows in a ceremony led by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

Harry's 92-year-old grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip were in attendance as Meghan Markle arrived in St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, wearing a long white veil and a glittering tiara.

Guests at the ceremony included singer Elton John, Hollywood star George Clooney, footballer David Beckham, tennis star Serena Williams and US talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

"The Queen has today been pleased to confer a dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel," it said in a statement.

"Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex."
