Originating in Hubei's capital of Wuhan, coronavirus has spread throughout China.

Hong Kong has banned visitors from China's Hubei province where coronavirus outbreak originated as number of virus deaths in China rose to 80. The number of deaths from the flu-like virus in Hubei province climbed from 56 to 76 overnight, health commission officials said, with four deaths elsewhere, news agency Reuters reported. 

In an unprecedented operation, China has locked down Hubei province, affecting tens of millions of people and intended to slow transmission of the respiratory virus.

Originating in Hubei's capital of Wuhan, the virus has spread throughout China and across the world -- with cases confirmed in around a dozen countries including as far away as the United States.

No Indian has been infected in China by the outbreak though students have been asked to take precautions, Foreign Ministry said on Sunday. "We are also closely coordinating with Chinese authorities. As of now, we understand that no Indian citizens have been affected by the outbreak and that food and water supplies are available to them," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

Britain has asked people returning from Wuhan in the past fourteen days to self-isolate themselves and stay indoors, health minister said. They are taking this measure amid concern regarding pre-symptom transmission of coronavirus. Britain has tested 73 people for the virus, however, there has not been any confirmed cases of the disease. (Reuters)

Spain and Portugal working alongside China and the European Union to evacuate their nationals from Wuhan which is hard-hit by the coronavirus. Portuguese Foreign Minister told state media that they are exploring whether the Portuguese citizens stuck in Wuhan could return on a civilian plane. Nearly 10-14 Portuguese nationals are in Wuhan. China's capital city Beijing confirmed the first death from coronavirus on Monday, a local news channel reported. The 50-year-old had been to Wuhan where he was infected with the virus. (Reuters)

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will "inspect and direct" various efforts to control the coronavirus outbreak in China. He thanked the medical workers in Wuhan for their efforts in treating people. He also said that 2,500 more medical workers would arrive in the next two days. (Reuters)

The World Health Organization revised its previous report on China virus saying that the global risk from the virus is "high" and not "moderate". The spokeswoman of WHO said that it was "an error in the wording". (AFP)

China is rushing against time to build the field hospital that is expected to treat for the coronavirus. The construction workers are wearing masks as mandated by the authorities. Each worker is being checked for virus when they arrive at the construction site. The first field hospital is expected to be completed by February 3rd and the second one will be complete by February 5. (Reuters)

Malaysia has banned entry of citizens from Chinese city Wuhan and its surrounding Hubei province. There has been four confirmed cases of virus in Malaysia. The Prime Minister's office said that the ban will be lifted once the situation becomes normal. (AFP)
