How India's Longest Bridge Will Change Mumbai's Life

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today inaugurate the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, India's longest sea bridge.

The bridge has been named Atal Setu, honouring the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The 21.8-kilometre long bridge connects Sewri in Mumbai to Nhava Sheva in Raigad district.

Commuters will be able to travel from Mumbai to Pune in just 90 minutes using the bridge.

The project cost Rs 18,000 crore and is expected to cater to around 70,000 vehicles daily.

Motorists will be allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 100 kmph on the Atal Setu.

Heavy vehicles, motorcycles, autorickshaws, and tractors are not permitted on the sea bridge.

The lights used in Atal Setu do not disturb the aquatic environment.
