The right to free and compulsory education became a fundamental right in 2009 - since that day children from the age of 6-14 can demand by law to go to school, it's their right to get a basic level of education. The question however arises, what is the kind of education children are getting when they go to state schools? The latest education report prepared by Pratham NGO that goes into studying 24 states and 23,000 homes paints a grim picture. It reveals that rural youth in their teenage - from 14-18 may not even be able to read standard 2 texts and do simple division.
