Anger Rises In Bihar As Netas Vanish Amid Surge In Coronavirus Cases

Bihar is facing twin pressure as millions are returning home from other states, leading to a rise in COVID-19 cases and the palpable anger among the returnees from a feeling of abandonment. But unlike other states with the same problems, Bihar is heading into an election this year. This is a time when ministers and leaders are expected to be seen and heard by those in distress despite the constraints of the lockdown. But the allegation against the netas is that they are using the lockdown as an excuse to go underground. People admitted to quarantine centres and villages in Jahanabad district, two hours away from Patna, tell NDTV that no arm of the Indian state has ever visited them.
