There is a brand new dispute between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress - this time in the build up to Durga Puja which is always an emotive issue in West Bengal. The TMC alleges that Income Tax notices have been sent to certain Durga Puja committees. Mamata Banerjee feels that religious functions like these must not be under the taxman's lens. Many leaders of the BJP allege that the real reason why the TMC is aggressively pushing for this is because of its leaders use these committees for laundering their money. The finance ministry has now clarified that the news of the I-T department sending notices is incorrect. What is the reality and while we attempt to brings facts back into the story, we ask if this will lead to a fresh round of confrontation between these two parties in the run up to Bengal assembly elections of 2021.
