Every year, during the last week of February, as winter begins to withdraw from the deserts of western Rajasthan and Spring sets in, the historic monuments -- the 12th century Nagaur fort and Jodhpur's 15th century Mehrangarh fort come alive to the strains of music from all across the world and set the stage for the World Sacred Spirit Festival. The festival, now in its ninth year includes spiritual performers from across the world and Sufi and mystic elements from India. The festival also provides a platform to traditional artists and debut performances . This music festival is unique as it brings together 120 performers from 7 different countries with diverse traditions but with one underlying theme that music is a "universal language".
