On Tuesday, several videos of public flogging from Gujarat went viral on social media. In these videos men could be seen tied to electric polls and being bashed by police while a crowd cheers for them. Interestingly all those flogged were Muslims. Now the question is which law allows flogging? Is it another form of politicised policing? Are the police even allowed to deliver street justice? If so, what happens to the law?
