The 10 per cent levy quota imposed on sugar companies is set to go, confirms Food Minister K.V. Thomas. He says a decision on the same is likely to be taken soon. He says the release mechanism for sugar will also be liberalised but if sugar prices fall too far, the government may consider re-imposing release restrictions.
