The government has moved a step closer to freeing urea prices. The committee of secretaries (CoS) looking into the issue has finalised the formula for deregulation of urea the most used fertiliser in the country. A fixed subsidy of Rs 4000 per tonne will be paid to each unit. But given the rising gas and global oil prices the committee might have to take a relook at the entire proposal.
