The Modi government 2.0 is finally decided and named and has already begun work with a focus on the farm sector in its first cabinet meeting today. The government today announced a monthly pension of Rs 3000 to farmers and traders. There was bad news on the economic front as the GDP growth rate was down, owing to a major slowdown in the agriculture sector and the mining sector. What also made headlines was the allocation of portfolios in Modi government 2.0. With entries like Amit Shah being named as the Home Minister, who is also the de-facto No. 2 in the government now, and with changes like Nirmala Sitharaman stepping into Arun Jaitley's shoes, taking up the Finance Ministry and former Home Minister Rajnath Singh taking up the Defence Ministry. S Jaishankar later in the day took charge of the Ministry of External Affairs.
