A family destroyed in Dadri in western Uttar Pradesh. Mohd Akhlaq was beaten and stoned to death, his son critically injured. This after a local temple announced that his family was allegedly eating beef. A mob surrounded and ransacked his house over the rumours, pulled the men out of the house and attacked them. It was only when the police reached the village around 10.30 pm that the attackers ran away. Adding insult to injury, the former MLA of BJP from the area claims there was no conspiracy and that the people arrested are young boys and innocent. The sister of the prime accused says the murder will prevent cow slaughter and consumption of beef in the future.
