Indian shares fell sharply on Monday as prospects of aggressive rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve hit investors' appetite for risky assets. The BSE Sensex index fell over 600 points to around 56,579 and the Nifty 50 index was down nearly 1.3 per cent at about 16,953.
