The suspected bird flu outbreak in Bengal has the state authorities on guard. The authorities in West Bengal's Birbhum district and the surrounding areas are standing by for mass culling of birds in anticipation of the official confirmation of a bird flu outbreak there. This follows overnight reports that close to 18,000 birds died in the area on Monday.
