The Congress party had made an application to unfurl the national flag tomorrow but the authorities gave the permission for today as a result of which the tricolour was raised today at the historic clock tower of Lal Chowk, senior leader Jairam Ramesh told NDTV. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by his sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and party leaders from Jammu and Kashmir for the flag hoisting.
