The spirit of the Father of the Nation and the father of modern Indian art come together this Gandhi Jayanthi. To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, designer Gaurang Shah will unveil a collection of sarees in Khadi, that reflect Gandhian ethos. The collection will be displayed at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai. The pallus of the sarees will recreate the timeless paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, in jamdani handweave and eco-friendly colours. Incidentally, the death anniversary of Raja Ravi Varma falls on the same day as Gandhi Jayanti, on October 2.
