A recent survey done in Maharashtra government-run and municipal schools has revealed startling facts about the standard of education in the state.The survey carried out by the Maharashtra government's Education Quality Control cell revealed that 49 per cent primary students could hardly read or even do basic arithmetic, and more than half could not write in English despite studying the subject for seven years.
